Catching up with Miller Yule – Musician & Song Writer

2016 AIMES Music Award Winner and now a finalist for 'Unsigned International Songwriter Competition'

Hello North Harbour Club! My song 'Diamonds' has made it to the finals of the Unsigned Only International Songwriting competition! From 6000 international song entries whittled down to 800 semi-finalists, I am now 1 of 13 finalists in my category.... only 3% of songs make it to the final so I'm pretty chuffed with that.

I would love it if you could help me out and vote! Make sure you scroll down the list of songs to find 'Diamonds'

Here is the link to vote: https://unsignedonly.com/fandemonium~category-2

You can vote once per day. It'd be even more amazing if you came back and voted for the next few weeks until voting closes August 14th!

We asked Miller a few questions about what he has been up to recently...

What would winning the Unsigned Only International Songwriting competition mean to you?
Of course the prizes look great and everyone loves free stuff. But above all, it's amazing to think that a panel of judges on the other side of the world have taken the time to sit down, listen to my song, read and analyse the lyrics, and follow the story. I put huge amounts of time and craft into my songs to make everyone word count. I always knew that 'Diamonds' was a very well written song but you can forget that over time. It's very easy for any artist to lose confidence and faith in themselves. So to have some international recognition for a piece of work I poured myself into is a nice reminder that I know what I'm doing!

It's also nice to come full circle having performed 'Diamonds' live for the first time at the North Harbour Hall of Fame Dinner in 2017!

Are you working on any new material at the moment?
Yes, I've been hard at work throughout 2017/2018 developing a new sound and new songs. I play a lot of these at my live shows to try new things out but can't wait to record and release them so the world can hear.

What have you been up to lately – gigs etc?
Always, writing, crafting and thinking of the next step. I played a gig just this last weekend Saturday 21st July in Kumeu. Awesome turn-out and the band was on fire. One of my best shows!

What else do you have planned for the future – studio or anything else in general!?
I have a whole bunch of songs up my sleeve that I'd love to get into the rehearsal room with my band. Looking forward to another release in the near future. I also hope to get out with the band over the summer to play some more shows.
